We Can Work Together For Create a

Better Future

Hello, welcome to my website. My name is Sanjay Deshwal and it’s my pleasure to connect with you. The objective of this website is to share the experiences of myself along with my associates over the years in our various projects, roles and initiatives so that we can create a stronger, more responsive community of Indians in Western Sydney.

Many of us have lived in our adopted home for over 25 years and have seen a lot of changes in people, places, attitudes, and beliefs. It’s now time to harness our collective energy and make a difference to our community’s profile and perception in the mainstream community.

The Indian community in Sydney has done exceedingly well and is known for being law abiding, progressive and open to all cultures and ethnicities. It is now up to us to build on it and contribute even more to our adopted home.

This website is for, and about all of us. Let us share, contribute and participate in all activities which help our fellow Australians and also look after the ageing first generation of Indian Australians.

The Journey,

The Memories

This year AVMCS has completed 25 years in business. It’s a journey made possible by hundreds of co- travellers that I have been fortunate enough to meet along the way. It is also a journey which is far from over.

But along the way, there have been people who have supported me at different stages of my journey. Many of you may see yourselves in this video. To you and also to those who are missing, I express my sincere gratitude.

Australia’s Leading

Indian Migration Agent

In 2021, Australian Visa & Migration Consultancy Services

(AVMCS) completed 25 successful years in Sydney. It is huge

achievement for all of us at AVMCS – probably the only Indian

migration business to reach this milestone. I thank all my

team members over the years for their role in making

this journey possible.

President Of Little India In Harris Park – LIHPBA

To everyone who visits Harris Park, it is like a quick trip to India. For starters, the vibe is Indian, so is the food. Businesses are Indian and so are the stores. Over the years, Harris Park has certainly developed into a little India with something to offer everyone – from a single student to the whole family. It’s probably the only Indian suburb of its kind in Australia.

For all of us at the Little India Harris Park Business Association (LIHPBA), getting the council approval to name a part of Harris Park as Little India was an enormous achievement. It took years of efforts and applications to the council but the outcome was worth it. We thank the Parramatta council for their support and understanding.

Setting up LIHPBA was always part of our plans to make sure along with the culture, Harris Park also represents the growing club of Indian business owners. Contributions from local businesses also enable us to organise cultural events, celebrate festivals and create a fund to help community members in need.

As the president of LIHPBA, it has been my privilege to put together a team of resourceful and like-minded individuals who are committed to inspiring others to live and work like responsible Indian Australians.

Shalini’s Indian Fashion

Dressing Up In Style

Is there anything that doesn’t mix with fashion? People looking for quality ethnic wear didn’t have too many options in the area. Until we opened Shalini’s Indian Fashion – a boutique store that sources the latest and most affordable outfits from Delhi and Rajasthan and makes it easy for Indians in Sydney. With a great range of clothes, shoes and accessories for both men and women, Shalini Indian Fashion opened its doors to Indians in Sydney 7 years ago. We have dressed up politicians, bureaucrats, actors as well as our regular Sydneysiders!

For me, starting Shalini’s Indian Fashion was not just a new business venture. Actively involved in research and sourcing, being part of this business helps me stay connected with people both back in India and here in Sydney. Interacting with them keeps me abreast of not just their tastes and preferences but also their opinions and beliefs. As a leader of the community, it is my passion and duty to understand the needs of the community and be their voice to express them to the local government.

Rewards, Challenges, Awards and the journey continues

It has been a long, challenging and rewarding journey. Now completing 27 years in the immigration industry, I have been fortunate to make long lasting alliances and undertake several community projects to assist our fellow migrants in need. I believe as senior members of the Indian community, it is our duty to look after the younger lot and guide them. Our group of business owners in Harris Park has often got together to contribute towards any project aimed to help the community. Long may this journey continue.
